Privacy Policy

Last updated: 20th August 2026
Good Egg English ("we," "us," "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use our website and lesson booking services, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.
We are the data controller for the purposes of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. What Data We Collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:

  • Account details: name, email address, password (stored securely by our website platform, Wix.com)

  • Booking details: lesson times, chosen pricing plan, booking history, communications about scheduling

  • Payment information: processed directly by Wix Payments. We do not see or store your full card details on our own systems.

  • Contact and enquiry details: information you provide via contact forms or email, such as your name, email address, and message content

  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, device information, and cookies collected automatically through our website platform (see Section 4)

  • Information about students under 18: where a parent or guardian books lessons for a child, we collect the child's name and relevant learning details necessary to deliver the lessons (see Section 6)

We do not collect more data than we need to run the school and deliver your lessons.

2. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:

  • Create and manage your account

  • Process and confirm bookings

  • Process payments through Wix Payments

  • Communicate with you about lessons, scheduling changes, or your account

  • Respond to enquiries

  • Improve the website and our services

  • Meet our legal and accounting obligations

3. Legal Basis for Processing
Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Contract: processing necessary to book and deliver lessons you've purchased

  • Consent: for marketing communications, where you've opted in (you can withdraw this at any time)

  • Legal obligation: for tax and accounting records

  • Legitimate interests: for basic site security and improving our services, balanced against your rights

4. Cookies and Analytics
Our website runs on Wix.com, which uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember your preferences, and provide basic analytics on visitor traffic. Some cookies are essential to the site functioning (e.g., keeping you logged in); others help us understand how visitors use the site.
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Doing so may affect how parts of the site work.
[Note for Chris/Laura: if a separate analytics tool beyond Wix's built-in system is added later — Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, etc. — this section needs updating to name it and link its own privacy policy.]

5. Who We Share Your Data With
We share data with the following third parties, only as needed to run the business:

  • Wix.com — our website hosting and booking platform, which processes data on our behalf

  • Wix Payments — our payment processor, which handles payment card data directly; we don't store your card details ourselves

We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
Because Wix operates internationally, your data may be processed on servers outside the UK/EEA. Wix maintains its own safeguards for these transfers, details of which are in Wix's own privacy policy.

6. Children's Data
Some of our students are under 18. Where this is the case:

  • A parent or guardian must set up the account and make the booking on the child's behalf

  • We only collect the data necessary to deliver lessons effectively (name, age or year group, relevant learning notes)

  • Parents and guardians can request access to, correction of, or deletion of their child's data at any time by contacting us

  • We do not knowingly collect data directly from children without a parent or guardian's involvement in the account and booking process

7. How Long We Keep Your Data
We keep account and booking data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations (typically up to 6 years for financial records under UK law). If you ask us to delete your account, we will do so, other than data we're legally required to retain.

8. Your Rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you

  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data

  • Ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten"), subject to our legal obligations

  • Restrict or object to certain processing

  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format

  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent

  • Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you believe we've mishandled your data

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at goodeggenglish@gmail.com.

9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your data, and rely on Wix.com's platform-level security for hosting, accounts, and payment processing. No online system is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security of data transmitted to us.

10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if our tools or services change. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent version. We encourage you to review it periodically.
