Learning Overview:
What will we explore together?

Beginner (A0)
Your child is beginning their English language journey! In this level, they will learn basic vocabulary, ranging from topics such as saying hello, feelings, pets, toys and food. This is a short, starter course of 4 units and is focused primarily on developing speaking and listening skills. If your child is new to online learning, this course will allow them to get used to the structure and rhythm of the lessons.

Intermediate (A1-A2)

This is a great starting point for students who are about to begin English language learning at school. The topics covered work well alongside many curriculums that are taught at early primary level. They will learn about a variety of topics such as body parts, jobs, places, family and actions. These levels cover the four key learning skills of English: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

Alongside regular conversation practice, your child will start to develop their reading skills, exploring phonics from every angle with fun, short stories. Throughout this level, your child will go from tracing letters to writing short paragraphs.

Independent (B1-B2)

At this point, your child is already learning English and can use basic phrases with confidence. They know how to discuss everyday topics and can understand and communicate with native speakers about familiar situations. Therefore, in this course, your child will begin to explore more challenging topics whilst also delving deeper into real-world situations. Your child will explore scenarios that they will encounter such as being in a restaurant, talking about future plans and past experiences, discussing recycling and the environment and making predictions about the future.

With reading, your child will start to read longer passages and explore reading strategies. They will learn to step from passive reading into active reading and begin to engage with critical thinking skills. From writing short paragraphs to lengthy texts that connect complex ideas and opinions. Students at this level start to develop their writing skills with refined grammar structures and learning how to incorporate different writing strategies into their planning.

Proficient (C1-C2)

This is an advanced course for students who can speak English with ease and regularly use it in their daily lives. At this level, you will pass from fluent into understanding nuances of English and being able to express yourself with colloquial phrases and jokes. This course explores a variety of complex topics such as historical figures, world events, the technological age and the impact of AI.

In regard to reading, students at this stage will continue to explore different reading strategies that engage critical thinking skills to examine different viewpoints. Your child will be able to read difficult passages and long words with little support. Not only that, but your child will be able to use context clues within texts to decipher the meaning of new words. At this level, your child can already write long passages, therefore they will have the chance to explore different writing styles. Within these levels, they will practice; researching and writing informational articles, how-to-posters, fictional stories.
